Announcing PhotoQuotes‚Ñ¢

As part of our initiative to make local photographers more profitable we’d like to tell you about a new service we have created specifically for the Australian photography market: www.photoquotes.com.au.

By joining PhotoQuotes‚Ñ¢ you’ll have access to new wedding and event photography sales leads as quickly as they’re posted on the website. We’ll be using our digital marketing skills to find customers looking for these services and then getting them to detail their requirements into a brief for you to quote against.

How does it work?

We find customers who are looking for wedding and event photographers and ask them to fill out a brief. Registered PhotoQuotes‚Ñ¢ users can then browse the list of briefs and quote on the jobs that are right for them. Here’s how it works step-by-step.

  1. Register your photography business on PhotoQuotes‚Ñ¢ for FREE
  2. Customers post their brief on PhotoQuotes‚Ñ¢ for FREE
  3. New jobs are announced sent straight to your email address and posted via Facebook and Twitter
  4. View briefs online and respond to the briefs that best suit you
  5. Send quotes to the customer via email or contact them directly by phone
  6. The customer then chooses the right quote for their needs

What will it cost?

  • FREE to register
  • Your first quote is FREE, then AUD$10 per quote there after
  • UNLIMITED access to new sales leads
  • NO monthly fees
  • NO hidden costs
  • YOU choose the leads you want to quote on

$20 is a bit steep for a lead when you might not even get the job. I know another service that provides leads for photographers here in Australia and it works on a points system. You pay for xx number of points and then use those points to bid for jobs – the cost is considerably less.

On average it’ll cost $500 per year to advertise on the bridal websites so $20 ain’t too bad for a lead when you look at how many leads you might get from a bridal website per year divided by the annual cost of advertising on that website. I believe the issue here is that all the quotes I’ve looked at have been bottom of the price range ($1000 – $2500). My pricing starts at $2400 so it’s not gonna be very useful for me. I think there needs to be some client education done here and/or lift the minimum price range so it reflects a more realistic pricing model. I don’t know too many wedding photographers who will take a job for $1000.
